Essential Phone now receiving latest Android P Beta build

Smartphone companies that are on top of their software update game are far and few between. We have companies like Samsung who took over a year to push out Android Oreo to the U.S. unlocked Galaxy S7. Then there are companies like Motorola who promise updates and then fail to do so. However, on the opposite end of the spectrum, we have diamonds in the rough who not only take OTA updates seriously but have oftentimes beaten Google to the punch with security patches. While Google has just released the Android P Beta 4 for the Pixel phones, the Essential Phone is following behind closely.

The Essential Phone was ahead of its time with the notch, which was heavily criticized in reviews, and the software just wasn't polished enough. This is where Essential has shined, though, with their updates. They continue to work on improving the camera performance with updates to the application and they are part of the handful of companies who are rolling out beta versions of Android P. The Essential Phone received the Android Beta 2 with June security patches back in June and it received the July patches earlier this month.

Most of the new changes in this update seem to be under the hood as they tel us they have included the latest Google Android P code integration. But, they are still aware of the bugs that the community has been reporting in this beta version of Android P and this update fixes some minor bugs and enhancements.

If you're interested in joining the Android P beta, you can find all the information on Essential's landing page. If you are already on the beta you will receive this latest version as an OTA update. Essential continues to do a bang-up job with speedy updates. Despite rumors of the company struggling, Essential has won over a lot of fans with great software support.
