i bought a power block a few months ago, and while i don't use the powerblock, i do use the provided usb cable to charge my phone while i'm using gps in my car. sometimes my phone will get really hot, and stop charging and other times it won't. there's no variables between the two instances.
a little bit more information, the usb cable provided with the phone doesn't over heat the phone, but also doesn't charge it fast enough to keep the phone charged while using gps(doesn't even slow the discharge). and the usb cable from the power block didn't either, until the MM update. i haven't tried a car charger since the MM update. and sometimes i can do gps and google play music at the same time without it overheating and other times just the gps will overheat
