Android Security patches for May are Now Available with OTA and Factory Images

Like clockwork, a new month appears on the calendar and Google releases the latest security patches. The May 2018 security bulletins have been posted for Android in general and Pixel/Nexus devices. OTA images and factory images are also available for the Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Pixel C.

Google has resolved 23 issues in the May security patch. Again, the most severe relate to the media framework and possibly permitting a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code through a "crafted file." Google says there were no reports of customers being affected by these issues.

The bulletin for the Pixel/Nexus devices lists 34 fixes and 2 functional updates, which is way down from the 56 we got last month. Check out those fixes below and follow the links to download the OTA images and factory images for your qualifying device.
