Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9 Android Oreo Kernel Sources now available

Earlier this month, Honor delivered a tasty Oreo treat to some of their devices. If you own the Honor 8 Pro or the Honor 9 then you should be receiving an OTA update in the very near future (if you haven't already) that contains the highly anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo features alongside the company's EMUI 8.0 ROM. When a device maker releases a new Android smartphone to the world, they are supposed to follow the rules set by the GPL and release the kernel source code for any binaries that ship on the device.

This is also required when an OEM updates the binaries on a device, and that's what Honor has done with the Honor 8 Pro and the Honor 9. The two links down below are direct downloads and contain the kernel source code for the new Oreo update for these two devices. We hope that Honor continues timely releases of kernel source code, and with initiatives like the Honor Open Source Program, also continues showing support for the developer community. We have already seen the fruits of such initiatives such as official TWRP and Magisk support, and recently unofficial LineageOS 15.1 and CarbonROM for Treble-compatible devices.
