Recovering data after failed encryption?

I have a rooted Galaxy S6 Edge. I decided to encrypt the device. When I started, it said "Encrypting" in a full screen display with a padlock. I left it running overnight, and when I woke up, it was still on this screen. I had only told it to encrypt used space, of which there wasn't nearly enough for it to take that long, so I figured it crashed. I rebooted the phone, and when I turned it back on, it took me to a screen saying the encryption failed and I had to erase all the data before I could use it again. What I'm thinking is that maybe it set the flag to display the "encryption failed, reset phone" message, but froze before it could actually encrypt anything. Since I turned it off before it could finish, it never cleared the flag.

Now, when I click the "Reset Phone" button, it instantly reboots into a recovery menu. These are the options:
  • reboot system now
  • apply update from ADB
  • apply update from external storage
  • apply update from cache
  • wipe data/factory reset
  • wipe cache partition
  • reboot to bootloader
  • power down
  • view recovery logs

Unfortunately, I can't access a terminal or anything, because it won't let me do anything outside the recovery menu or the "reset phone" screen, even in safe mode, and neither of those have USB debugging active. The "apply update from ADB" option in the recovery menu just says "Update from ADB is disabled" and doesn't enable USB debugging. I can also access a "Maintenance Boot Mode" menu (by holding down Power and Vol- for a few seconds) which gives me "Normal Boot", "Factory Reset", "Safe Mode", "Power down", and "USB Debug Mode", which looks promising, but while it enables USB debugging, it shows up as "offline" in ADB.

That being said, does anyone know how I can reset this flag, to enable me to use my phone without wiping it?

How good do you think development will be for the G5?

I'm on Sprint so if I go Galaxy I have no chance of getting root based on what I'm hearing right now. So a big selling point here is the ability to actually do some decent, cool root stuff on the G5. However, in the past I've mainly used root for wireless tether, but I now have hotspot so that won't be a huge deal either. I never had the V10 or G4—was the development decent there? Do you think it'll be decent on the G5?

Put differently, what are some of the main things you'd need to see in development for G5 in order to think it's worth getting over the Galaxy S7 or S7E, *and* do you think we'll see those things?

Thanks!!

Questions on ROM development

I am able to extract System.img from the 4.4.4 ODEN install and mount it in Ubunto. I can modify the folders and files to remove bloat, etc. I am able to repack back and use FlashFire to flash the 4.4.4 modified firmware.

My question is related to 5.0. I have tried the same method and after several modifled attempts, was able to extract and mount the System.img. After debloating, etc. I tried to repack it the same way but in FlashFire, it fails the MD5 check.

I tried another approach. Instead of repacking the full firmware package, I just created the System.img as a stand alone flash-able package. I then install 5.0 through ODEN, install Root and FlashFire.

When I try to flash my modified System.img through FlashFire, it passes the MD5 and installs successfully but it never boots. It never even makes it to the initial boot screen.

After that, I have to ODEN back again and start over. Any dev's out there that might know what I might be missing or can point me to some documentation on the process for 5.0?

AirPlane Mode - keep BT and WiFi on

Hi.

//some info :
Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Beanstalk 6.12 (based on CM, android 6.0.1)
Xposed enabled, rooted etc.

Coverage in my school is pretty bad - low to no signal. Too much concrete I guess. Because of it my battery drops pretty fast even when I'm not using my phone.

I made a tasker profile to enable the airplane mode when there's no signal. Task detect if BT/WiFi was enabled before and turns it on again. Task disables Airplane mode after 20 mins to check for signal, and whole task restart.

However the problem is that BT is disconnected for a while, which is anoying and disables smart lock (up to first unlock), disconnect BT headphones and watch. Tweak is worth it ; now battery drops much slower. I want it to keep checking every 20 mins because there are some places where signal is pretty good.

//the question
I'm looking for a way to tweak airplane mode (or just disable signal with other method), and leave BT/WiFi untouched.

So far I found this :
http://ift.tt/1N5CpGG

I guess it's for older android versions, but tried anyway. In this folder I have almost right file. It's called "settings.db-journal". SQLite editor can't open it and build in editor shows Chinese? letters?.

If you could help me that would be awesome.

Thanks,
Peter.
