LG Q8 to Go on Sale in Select European Markets Starting This Week (SD820, 5.2-inch Display)

Originally announced last week on their Italian website, LG today made a formal announcement of its latest Q series smartphone, the LG Q8, along with its availability details.

The LG Q8 is basically a mini version of the LG V20, offering a premium smartphone experience in a compact size.

According to Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company:

"The Q8 gets much of its DNA from past V devices but is designed for one-handed use and ease of portability."

As a refresher, the LG Q8 sports a 5.2-inch 1440p IPS main display and a 160 x 1040 secondary ticker display. It's powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD slot) and comes running Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.

The LG Q8 also features the V20's signature Quad DAC and supports playback of Hi-Res music formats to deliver a superior music output.

You also get a dual-camera setup on the back comprising of a 16MP (f/1.8) standard angle camera and an 8MP wide-angle shooter with f/2.4, while the front camera is a 5MP wide-angle with f/1.9 aperture. Unlike the LG V20, the Q8 is also IP67 certified and can survive submersion in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

Additionally, you'll find a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner (that also doubles as a power button), a USB Type-C port, 3,000 mAh battery, NFC, and it supports fast charging via Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

The LG Q8 will go on sale in select European markets starting this week, with the device expected to hit Asian markets next month. There is no word on pricing yet. However, if competitively priced, the LG Q8 could be a great option for those looking for a compact yet powerful multimedia device but don't want to burn a hole in their pocket.
